"Arrow": Manu Bennett Takes Aim @ 'Deathstroke'

According to VancoverFilm.Net the role of DC Comics' villain 'Slade Wilson', aka 'Deathstroke', in CW's "Arrow" TV series, will now be played by New Zealand actor Manu Bennett.

Bennett co-starred as 'Crixus' in 23 episodes of STARZ "Spartacus", as well as playing the 'Goblin King' character 'Azog' in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey".plus its sequels, "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" and "The Hobbit: There and Back Again".

Bennett is committed to several episodes of "Arrow" and will appear in 'back half' episodes next year.

The 'Deathstroke' costumed mercenary character was created by writer Marv Wolfman and illustrator George Perez, debuting in DC Comics' "Teen Titans #2 (1980).

Deathstroke possesses various enhanced abilities including the strength of ten men and heightened speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes.

He has the capacity to use up to 90% of his brain at any one time, making him a tactical genius, adept at turning opponents' own abilities against them.

He also possesses a healing factor in his blood that enables him to quickly recover from physical injury, but could not heal his missing eye.

Deathstroke is skilled in the use of pistols, rifles, and swords, with his signature weapon, a power staff that fires lethal and non-lethal energy blasts from both ends. His body armor is composed of a mesh-woven, kevlar, chainlink mail, called 'Promethium', capable of stopping small arms fire.
