Hot on the heels of the Sci Fi Channel developing a "Sherlock Holmes" TV movie, "Sherlock Holmes and the Curse of the Banshee" to shoot in Europe next month, comes word that Warners is looking at a "Sherlock Holmes" movie franchise, teaming up with Lionel Wigram to adapt Wigram's upcoming comic book "Sherlock Holmes" for the big screen.
Warners DC Comics previously published a "Sherlock Holmes" comic book in the 1960's.
Neil "The Descent" Marshall will direct from a screenplay by Michael Johnson.
Marshall is currently shooting "Doomsday" for Rogue Pictures.
Wigram, a former Warners creative exec who oversaw the first three "Harry Potter" features, intends to play up parts of the detective's character including his skills as a bare-knuckle boxer and expert swordsman.
More than 75 actors have played the public domain London detective in 200 films and TV shows since 1900.
