Studios Caught In California Wildfires



The mis
managed response to the deadly California wildfires in LA County, besides displacing the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, has also disrupted the flow of many ‘Hollywood’ scheduled film events:


Nominations for the ‘Academy Awards’ are pushed to January 19, 2025.

The in-person announcement ceremony for the ‘Screen Actors Guild’ award nominations, was canceled and nominations revealed instead on the SAG website. 


The ‘Critics Choice Awards’, slated for Jan. 12 in Santa Monica, was postponed to Jan. 26. 


The yearly ‘American Film Institute’ (AFI) Awards, scheduled for Jan. 10 in Beverly Hills was also postponed. 


The ‘British Academy for Film and Television Arts’ (BAFTA) awards ceremony, scheduled for Jan. 11, was canceled. 


The wildfires are also causing production disruptions for ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”,  Apple TV+’s “Loot”, CBS’s “After Midnight’, “NCIS”, “NCIS: Origins”, “The Neighborhood” and  “Poppa’s House”…

…plus Max’s “Hacks”, NBC’s “Happy’s Place”, “Suits LA” and Peacock’s “Ted”.


‘FilmLA’, the film office of Los Angeles city and county, issued a statement January 8, 2025, confirming permits issued for filming in the communities of Altadena, La Crescenta, La CaƱada Flintridge and Unincorporated Pasadena…


…affected by the ‘Eaton’ fire, have been withdrawn and other permits revoked.
