The next live-action “Spider-Man” TV series follow-up to Sony TV’s now canceled “Spider-Noir”, will be a loose adaptation of Marvel Comics’ 1994-1996 extended comic book storyline “The Clone Saga”, revolving around ‘Peter Parker' clones, ‘Ben Reilly’ and ‘Kaine Parker’, to be produced by Amazon Prime Video for streaming on MGM+:
“Primarily running through various ‘Spider-Man’ comic book series from October 1994 to December 1996, ‘The Clone Saga’ fundamentally upended the life of ‘Peter Parker’…
“…by introducing the concept that he might not actually be the original ‘wall-crawler’.
“Years before the main ‘90’s event, a biology professor named ‘Miles Warren’, aka ‘The Jackal’, becomes obsessed with ‘Gwen Stacy’.
“Blaming Spider-Man for her death, Warren creates clones of both Gwen and Peter Parker.
“Peter fights his clone, who seemingly dies in an explosion at ‘Shea Stadium’ in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ #149.
“Peter continues his life, confident he is the original.
“Five years later, the clone resurfaces under the alias ‘Ben Reilly’ named after Peter’s ‘Uncle Ben’ and the maiden name of ‘Aunt May'.
“Ben adopts his own superhero identity, the ‘Scarlet Spider’, as . genetic tests conducted by the Jackal deceptively reveal that Ben Reilly is the original Peter Parker.
“Distraught but accepting, Peter decides to retire from being Spider-Man to raise a family with a pregnant ‘Mary Jane Watson…
