Following a 2018 TV pilot directed by Melina Matsoukas, FX has greenlit an adaptation of the post-apocalyptic, Vertigo (DC) graphic novel "Y: The Last Man", by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra, as an episodic TV series, starring Barry Keoghan ("Dunkirk"), Diane Lane, Imogen Poots and Lashana Lynch:
"...'Yorick Brown', an amateur escape artist and his pet Capuchin monkey 'Ampersand'...
"...seem to be the last survivors of a mysterious plague that killed every other male mammal on Earth.
"The two set off on a globe-spanning journey to reunite with Yorick's girlfriend...
"...discover what wiped out the world’s 'Y' chromosomes and find out why they survived..."
"'Y: The Last Man' is a towering achievement among graphic novel storytelling," said FX president original programming Nick Grad.
"...and it's been rewarding to work with this outstanding team.
"Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal have partnered with Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson to deliver a stunning new expression of this fascinating and timely story.
" Melina Matsoukas, who directed the pilot, did an incredible job bringing it to life with Diane Lane and this stellar cast..."
