The Walt Disney Company has acquired, through their upcoming deal with Fox, the film rights to "Incognito" (2008) , a six-issue Icon Comics graphic novel series written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Sean Phillips:
"...What if you were an ex-super-villain hiding out in 'Witness Protection', but all you could think about were the days when the 'firewalls' were in place, and the rules didn't apply to you? Could you stand the toil of an average life after years of leaving destruction in your wake? And what if you couldn't stand it? What would you do then?..."
"'Incognito' is the story of a bad guy forced to be good," said Brubaker," and what happens when he starts to go stir-crazy from the monotony of normal life. It's a dark look at good and evil and pulp and noir all in one hard-hitting package."
"Set in a world where pulp magazine heroes and villains have existed since the early 1800's, "Incognito" follows escaped convict 'Kenneth Lee', aka 'The Black Death', whose powers derived from a radioactive object which landed in New England over 200 years ago.
"Former villain 'Zack Overkill', in the Witness Protection Program after giving testimony against The Black Death is required to take a drug that eliminates his super abilities, then given a lowly job delivering mail in an office. Trying to escape the boredom of a normal life, Zack experiments with illegal drugs that interfere with the power-blocking drug and he regains his super strength, now searching for action as a crime-fighting vigilante..."
