'The Huntress' Lands On CW's "Arrow"

According to VancouverFilm.Net, the DC Comics superhero character 'The Huntress' will appear in a multi-episode arc on the Vancouver-lensed "Arrow" TV Series, played by Australian actress Jessica De Gouw ("Underbelly"):

"'Helena',  a potential love interest for 'Oliver Queen' is a fellow vigilante, set on destroying her father’s organized crime empire. But Helena’s blind pursuit of revenge will put her on a collision course with the 'Arrow'..."

Different versions of The Huntress have appeared in the DC Universe since the late 1940's, with the most recent in the 2002 WB TV Series "Birds Of Prey".

"Arrow" stars Stephen Amell, Colin Donnell, Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Willa Holland, Susanna Thompson and Paul Blackthorne.

The pilot is directed by David Nutter ("Band Of Brothers") from a story by Greg Berlanti and teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim.

"Arrow" joins other developing TV pilots based on DC Comics superheroes including "Booster Gold", "Deadman" and "Spectre".

Created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp, "Green Arrow' debuted in "More Fun Comics" #73 (November 1941), as 'Oliver Queen', a billionaire and former mayor of 'Star City'.

Dressed like 'Robin Hood', Green Arrow is an archer who invents trick arrows with various special functions, including glue, net, explosive, time bomb, grappling, fire extinguishing, flash and tear gas arrows.

Originally developed as an archery-themed 'Batman' vigilante, the character has developed over the years into a voice of 'left-wing' and 'progressive' politics.

The 'Green Arrow' character also appeared in the live-action, Vancouver-lensed "Smallville" TV series.
