Pray For Marvel's 'Mantis'

Thanks to TorontoCatWoman.Com, take a look at 'Mandy Celestine' aka 'Mantis', one of Marvel Comics' 'empowered' female "Avengers" past and present, in consideration to appear in an upcoming Marvel Studios film:

The character was created by writer Steve Englehart and illustrator Don Heck, debuting in Marvel Comics'  "The Avengers" (1973).

The character was so popular that Mantis later appeared in comic books published by other companies, moving from Marvel to DC to Eclipse to Image and finally back to Marvel again.

According to her Marvel Comics origins, Mantis was the half-Vietnamese, half-German daughter of 'Gustav Brandt-Libra'. In her childhood, her father left her in Vietnam at the Temple of the 'Priests of Pama', a sect of the alien 'Kree', believing she might become the 'Celestial Madonna' and mate with the eldest 'Cotati on Earth' to become the mother of the 'Celestial Messiah'.

Trained by Priests in martial arts, Mantis is strong enough to take on 'Captain America' and 'Thor', by instinctively sensing their weak points.

Mantis has attained a mastery of meditational disciplines giving her control over her body, including autonomic functions of heartbeat, bleeding and breathing, can heal her injuries through sheer force of will and coupled with precognition and 'psychic empathy', she aalso has a telepathic power that allows her to sense the emotions of others.
