There's Something About Chanel Ryan

Actress/model Chanel Ryan tells us that since she made the decision to switch her focus full time to acting, she has been busy with a number of new 'genre' feature film projects.

"I Just finished shooting the comedy/horror film 'Bad Kids Go To Hell' in Texas and WOW was it HOT!," said Ryan. "We basically went straight from filming in Dallas to San Diego Comicon to unveil the teaser, and do a bit of promotion.

"'Bad Kids' started out as a best selling indie comic book series/graphic novel of the same name, written by Barry Bazza Wernick who is also the film's producer. Matthew Spradlin is the director.

"Fans of the series will be happy to know that since both writers were on set everyday, the project is staying true to the comic in production, script & mood...sort of a "Breakfast Club" meets 'The Grudge'.

"I play cheerleading coach 'Ms. Gleason' who is just oozing with school spirit. Judd Nelson is 'Headmaster Nash'.

"I am also really excited to have a small part in "The Witches Of Oz" from director Leigh Scott. There are three different versions of the film being released. The first version opened a week ago in the UK. A different version, complete with 15 minutes of new footage, alternate scenes and entirely different effects will be in theatres in the US mid October. And yet another version will be released as a TV mini series in the US in December.

I also appeared in the film 'Small Apartments' for director Jonas Akerlund. Look for me as 'Swiss Miss' in the dream sequences.

"I also appear in the new film 'Skum Rocks'. I play 'Ashley X', the disgruntled ex-girlfriend of the lead singer. The film is a rockumentary spoof, narrated by Alice Cooper. Cameos include Jon Stewart, Steve-O and a ton of well know musicians. Last I heard the producers are planning to premiere the film in Miami late fall to coincide with Alice Cooper's next tour."

"Rogue Of Mars" in IMAX 3D

Development continues on the IMAX 3D feature "Sinbad: Rogue Of Mars", based on
Bluewater Productions graphic novel series, recently optioned by Morningside Entertainment to adapt into a major motion picture for 2012.

A continuation of the "Sinbad" films that began in 1958 with "The 7th Voyage Of Sinbad", followed by "The Golden Voyage of Sinbad" and"Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger", "Rogue of Mars" is described an an 'updated sequel' rather than a reboot of the 'Sinbad' character.

Executive Producer Barry Schneer revealed that "Rogue of Mars" is the first of a new trilogy to bring the adventures of 'Sinbad' to a new generation of 'sword 'n sorcery' fans .

"I am thrilled to continue the amazing legacy my uncle, Charles Schneer began with '7th Voyage' and be able to bring to the screen the 'Sinbad' movie that he and Ray Harryhausen never got to make."

"...In his 4th film adventure, 'Sinbad' and his crew find are transported to another planet by a ruthless 'Jinn' bent on freeing his race who have been imprisoned for millennia..."

"'Sinbad has always been one of more popular titles in our library, " said Darren G. Davis, Publisher of Bluewater Productions. "It certainly lends itself to a big-budget tentpole movie".

Morningside and banking partner, Pablo Antoniazzi, Director of the Brazilian Bank, Estratejia Investimentos, S.A. have co-ventured to structure the financing for the film, attaching writer Paul J. Salamoff to draft the screenplay.

"Fire And Ice": The Concept Art

Sneak Peek the new Frank Frazetta-inspired concept art, promoting the developing, live-action motion picture update of the Ralph Bakshi/Frank Frazetta 1983 animated feature "Fire And Ice".

The project is currently set up at producer Robert Rodriguez' Troublemaker Studios.

Budgeted at $1.2 million, the original PG-rated "Fire And Ice", was a unique collaboration between director Bakshi ("Fritz The Cat") and fantasy illustrator Frazetta.

Based on characters Bakshi and Frazetta co-created, the film made use of live-action 'rotoscoping', that was then embellished by Frazetta.

The original screenplay was written by Marvel Comics' "Conan" writers Gerry Conway and Roy Thomas :

"...From their stronghold in 'Icepeak', the evil 'Queen Juliana' and her son 'Nekron' send forth a wave of glaciers, forcing humanity to retreat south towards the equator.

"Nekron sends a delegation to 'King Jarol' in 'Firekeep' to request his surrender.

"But
this is merely a ruse orchestrated by Queen Juliana for Nekron’s sub-humans to kidnap Jarol’s daughter, 'Princess Teegra'...."

Producer Frazetta was actively involved in the film's pre-rotoscoping live-action sequences, from casting sessions to the final shoot, ensuring that the depictions of women, heroes, villains and creatures would conform to his style.
