Inspired by the original 1930's "Three Stooges" 'short presentations', the storyline will have the trio left as newborns outside an orphanage, following them into adulthood, with the full film divided into three half-hours.
Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos and Will Sasso will play 'Larry', 'Moe' and 'Curly' with a supporting cast that includes Jane Lynch, Larry David, Stephen Collins, Sofia Vergara and Jennifer Hudson.
Writer/actor Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") will play 'Mother Mengele', the nun who runs the orphanage where the 'Stooges' grow up, under the supervision of Jane Lynch ("Glee") as 'Mother Superior'.
Fox acquired The Farrelly's "Three Stooges" project from MGM, with a screenplay co-written by the brothers and Mike Cerrone.
"It’s not a biopic," said Peter Farrelly. "It takes place in present day, and they will look, dress and sound exactly like the original Stooges..."
