Amber Heard: "The Rum Diary"

Take a look at "The Rum Diary", based on the novel of the same name by author Hunter S. Thompson, directed by Bruce Robinson, starring Johnny Depp and Amber Heard : "...'Paul Kemp' (Depp) is an itinerant journalist who tires of New York and America under the Eisenhower administration and travels to Puerto Rico to write for 'The San Juan Star'. Kemp begins the habit of drinking rum and becomes obsessed with the woman' Chenault' (Heard)..."
Also appearing in the film are Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, Richard Jenkins, Bill Smitrovich, Michael Rispoli, Julian Holloway, Amaury Nolasco, Marshall Bell, Karen Austin and Jason Smith.
'Gonzo' journalist Thompson wrote "The Rum Diary" novel in 1961, but the book was not published until 1998.
In 2007, producer Graham King acquired all rights to the novel and sought to film the adaptation under Warner Independent Pictures, with Depp, who previously starred in the 1998 film adaptation of Thompson's novel "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas", cast as freelance journalist 'Paul Kemp'.
In 2009, Depp's production company Infinitum Nihil took on the $65 million budgeted project with the financial backing of King and his production company GK Films, with principal photography starting in Puerto Rico, March 2009.
