Starz Sells Film Roman

According to reports, Starz Media, owners of animation house Film Roman, since 2006, will sell the studio to an investment group led by former Film Roman president Scott Greenberg.

Film Roman produces FoxTV/Gracie Films' "The Simpsons", Marvel Entertainment's "Super Hero Squad", "The Avengers" and "Ultimate Spider-Man". The company previously produced creator Mike Judge's "King of the Hill" and "Beavis and Butthead".

Starz said the sale allows them to concentrate on their core strategic business of acquiring movie pick-ups and developing, producing original TV series.

Original series include the recent "Spartacus: Blood And Sand" for the Starz pay-tv channel.

Under the agreement, the new owners will also acquire certain intellectual property and development rights.
