Lily Collins Is Shakespeare's "Juliet"

According to reports, actress Lily Collins ("The Blind Side") will star in a $12 million, live-action "Romeo and Juliet" feature, scheduled to start on location in Italy, October 4, from a screenplay by writer Julian Fellowes ("Gosford Park").

Director Gabriele Muccino ("Seven Pounds") will produce with Ileen Maisel and Mark Ordesky from Amber Entertainment. Carlo Carlei ("The Flight of the Innocent" will direct the 'teen romance' feature, set in the period time frame of author William Shakespeare’s original play.

Regarded as archetypal 'star-cross'd lovers', the "Romeo and Juliet' characters, whose deaths ultimately unite their feuding families, was first published in 1597.

In the classic, Shakespeare switches between comedy and tragedy to heighten tension, expands minor characters and uses sub-plots to embellish his romantic story.
