Scott Says 2 "Alien" Prequels Shooting In 3D

According to reports, director Sir Ridley Scott feels there will be "something fresh" to be offered in his 2 developing 3D prequels, to the 1979, sci-fi horror feature "Alien", exploring "where the alien creatures were first found and how they were created."

"It’s set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney ('Ellen Ripley')," said Scott about the new 20th Century Fox feature, slated for a 2012 release.

"It’s fundamentally about going out to find out who the hell was that 'Space Jockey'...The guy who was sitting in the chair in the alien vehicle — there was a giant fellow sitting in a seat on what looked to be either a piece of technology or an astronomer’s chair."

The main thrust of the new film will be about "the discussion of 'terraforming' — taking planets and planetoids and balls of earth and trying to terraform, seed them with the possibilities of future life."

Scott also revealed that the main character of the film will be a woman.
