Angelina Guides "The Tourist"

Principal photography started February 23 on GK Films' romantic thriller "The Tourist," directed by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

Produced by Academy-Award-winner Graham King, lensing in Paris and Venice, "The Tourist" will be distributed by Sony Pictures.

Written by screenwriters Julian Fellowes ("Gosford Park," "The Young Victoria"), Christopher McQuarrie ("Valkyrie"), and Jeffrey Nachmanoff ("The Day After Tomorrow") "The Tourist" follows 'Frank' (Depp), an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart, when 'Elise' (Jolie) deliberately crosses his path. Against the backdrop of Venice, Frank pursues a potential romance but soon he and Elise are caught up in intrigue and danger.

Von Donnersmarck won the 2007 Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for the thriller "The Lives of Others," marking his writing /directing debut. "Lives" also earned a BAFTA Award for 'Best Film Not in the English Language'.

Following his Oscar win for Martin Scorsese's "The Departed," producer King launched his production company GK Films May 2007 with business partner Tim Headington, producing "Edge of Darkness", "The Rum Diary" and "London Boulevard".
