"Family Guy' Hosting WGAW Awards

Seth MacFarlane, creator/voice of "Family Guy" will host the Writers Guild of America West Awards, February 20 in Los Angeles. The ceremony will be executive produced by Spike Jones, Jr.

In 2008, MacFarlane signed a deal with 20th Century Fox TV worth more than $100 million, for new-media projects related to his animated TV series "Family Guy", "American Dad", "Cleveland", as well as spin-off, DVD/merchandising revenue.

"I get a lot of pleasure out of making shows," MacFarlane said.

"It's a bonus to be getting paid well for it, and it's a double bonus to be getting paid exorbitantly for it...Nothing I can do, can really live up to that amount of money on a daily basis..."

He began his career studying animation/design at the Rhode Island School of Design, creating his calling card, the animated short, "The Life of Larry". Executives at Hanna-Barbera encouraged MacFarlane to move to Los Angeles in 1995 to create/direct a short film for them and he continued to work on animated series, including "Ace Ventura", "Jungle Cubs" and "Johnny Bravo".

MAcFarlane then created, animated, scripted, directed and provided main male character voices for Fox TV's "Family Guy", receiving an Emmy Award for Outstanding Voice-Over Performance for his role as 'Stewie Griffin'. In 2002, MacFarlane received another Emmy for Outstanding Music and Lyrics for the show.
