Universal Plays With Bendis' "Fire"

Actor Zac Efron will star in Universal Pictures' upcoming adaptation of the two-issue graphic novel, "Fire", from creator Brian Michael Bendis.

Bendis will write the screenplay with Neil Moritz producing. Efron and Alchemy Entertainment's Jason Barrett will executive produce.

"Fire" was a creator-owned, limited series written/drawn by Bendis, published by Caliber Press, then republished as a graphic novel trade paperback by Image.

The spy thriller follows 'Benjamin "Ben" Furst, a college student, recruited by a woman named 'D. D.' into the CIA and told he is going to be the first agent of 'Project Fire', an experiment to test whether training agents out of ordinary citizens can be successful.

Ben passes and becomes an agent under the command of 'Linda Dagger', placed in England posing as a journalist named 'Jake Donaldson' and dispatched to set up assassinations in places around the world. But Ben becomes 'disillusioned' with his job and suspects he is being set-up.

After D. D. has sex with him and Ben wakes up to a threat to his life, he breaks into CIA headquarters, learning that in Project Fire, an agent is killed, once he becomes a 'liability'...
