"Lara Croft" Targets A Reboot

Producer Dan "Sherlock Holmes" Lin continues to develop his big screen reboot of "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider", adapting the Eidos video game franchise starring action hero 'Lara Croft'.

Designed by Toby Gard, the Lara Croft video game character has been featured in movies, comic books, novels and animated short films, presented as a resourceful, athletic and reckless Englishwoman of noble birth who travels the world in pursuit of priceless antiquities.

Lara frequently ventures into ancient and often hazardous tombs, ruins, traps and puzzles, encountering a variety of enemies including gangsters, prehistoric animals, legendary creatures and supernatural beings.

The cornerstone of a multi-million dollar franchise, Paramount previously produced two 'Lara Croft' movies starring Angelina Jolie.

Screen rights recently reverted to Eidos, the games company that was, in turn purchased by Japanese publisher Square Enix for $120 million.

Lin will produce the film through his Lin Pictures with co-producer Stephen Gilchrist, reimagining the origins of a younger character, her love interest and the genesis of a new villain.

Archie Plays With "Josie And The Pussycats"

Archie Comic Publications has teamed with Nick Cannon's NCredible Entertainment to develop a non-scripted TV series based on "Josie and the Pussycats".

The show will coincide with a worldwide search for the new 'Josie', 'Melody' and 'Valerie', to be chronicled in a reality competition series.

Archie Comics will launch fresh "Josie" titles to coincide with the project.

"Josie" was created in 1958 by illustrator Dan DeCarlo, basing the character on his wife Josie. DeCarlo sold the property to Archie Comics, developing the charcters into a bi-monthly comic book series.

After being introduced in "Archie's Pals 'n' Gals" #23, the first issue of "She's Josie" appeared February 1963, featuring sweet-natured 'Josie', blonde bombshell 'Melody' and studious 'Pepper'.

In 1968, "The Archie Show" debuted on CBS, produced by Filmation Studios, with the show's song "Sugar, Sugar" hitting the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, September 1969.

Hanna-Barbera Productions contacted Archie Comics to get in on the action, acquiring rights to "Josie", producing a music-based, animated Saturday morning TV series.

In 1969, 'Josie" comics became "Josie And The Pussycats", with Josie and Melody starting a band with bassist 'Valerie', designing leopard print costumes with cat ear headbands/long tails and performing their first gig at a school dance.

In 2001, a "Josie And The Pussycats" feature was released.

"We are thrilled to be working with Nick Cannon and the NCredible Entertainment team," said Archie Comics Co-CEO Jon Goldwater.

"Through this partnership we envision endless possibilities with Archie's vast library of intellectual properties."

"'Archie Comics' and 'Josie and the Pussycats' are both iconic brands that I am excited to be working with, " said Cannon.

"It is my vision to create a multi-platform campaign to bring the
Josie and the Pussycats brand to life."

Sneak Peek "Iron Man 2": The Trailer

Sneak Peek the new trailer for the Paramount sequel "Iron Man 2", based on Marvel Comics characters created by writer Stan Lee and illustrators Don Heck/Jack Kirby.

"Iron Man 2" is set six months after the events of "Iron Man", with the secret ' S.H.I.E.L.D.' organization continuing to play a major role.

The film also explores Stark's alcoholism, his unwillingness to accept his advancing age, his glib approach to life while concealing the fact he is Iron Man and his jealously towards love interest 'Pepper' (Gwyneth Paltrow), finding another boyfriend.

Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as 'Tony Stark' aka 'Iron Man', said the film was not an adaptation of the "Demon in a Bottle" storyline from the comic book series, but more about the 'interim space' between the origin and demon story arc.

The film also stars actors Don Cheadle as 'Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes, Gwyneth Paltrow as 'Pepper Potts', Sam Rockwell as 'Justin Hammer', Samuel L. Jackson as 'Nick Fury' and Scarlett Johansson as 'Natasha Romanoff' aka 'Black Widow'.

'The Black Widow', was created by writers Lee, Don Rico and illustrator Heck, debuting in Marvel Comics "Tales of Suspense" #52 (April 1964) and introduced as a "gorgeous new menace" for 'Iron Man'.

Natasha appeared for the first time in a skintight black costume in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #86 (July 1970).

Born in Stalingrad, she trained as a spy/martial artist for the Soviet's 'Black Widow Ops' program, becoming 'bio-technically' enhanced.

Her gear is equipped with an arsenal of high-tech weaponry, including a pair of wrist-mounted energy weapons called the 'Widow's Bite'.

"Iron Man 2" will be released May 7, 2010.
