Showcase Television has greenlit six episodes of a new TV series from "Trailer Park Boys" actors Robb Wells, Mike Smith and J.P. Tremblay.

"The Drunk and On Drugs Happy Funtime Hour" described as a mix of narrative and sketch comedy, intends to prove to the legions of "TPB" fans that the boys can really act and did not just play themselves during their seven seasons on TV and in two feature films.

In the new series, the trio will play various characters, including the three stars of a fictional children's TV series "The Happy Funtime Hour", with Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson playing a German scientist who teaches children about nutrition by recommending hallucinogenic 'magic berries' (?!)

"The series is definitely a departure from our previous work," said Wells who played 'Ricky' on "TPB".

"But with bold characters and a storyline that pushes the envelope, "Drunk and On Drugs" still has a huge dose of our trademark humour that I think our fans expect from us..."
