Producers Charles "The Dark Knight" Roven and Steve "The Transporter" Chasman will reportedly update 1980's action hero 'Remo Williams" for a new series of "Destroyer" movies at Columbia Pictures.

"The Destroyer" was first adapted to film in the 1985 MGM feature "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins", starring actor Fred Ward.

Screenplay for "The Destroyer" update will be written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides.

The series follows the adventures of Remo Williams, a Newark cop framed for a crime and sentenced to death. But his death is faked by the government so he can be trained as an assassin for 'CURE', a secret organization set up by President Kennedy to defend the country by working outside the bounds of the Constitution.

The head of 'CURE' is 'Harold Smith', selected by the President because of his brilliant mind and 'integrity'. Smith was a former law instructor at Yale, serving in the 'Office of Strategic Services' during World War II.

Remo's trainer is 'Chiun', a deadly assassin and 'Master of Sinanju'. Remo is also noted as the avatar of 'Shiva', as prophesied in the legends of Sinanju.

Villains of the series include evil android 'Mr. Gordons', super-soldier 'Elizu Roote', the computer program 'Friend', renegade Sinanju practitioner 'Nuihc' and Chinese vampire 'The Master'...
