Fox Is Getting "Absolutely Fabulous"...

Fox is developing a US remake of creator Jennifer Saunders' hilarious BBC TV situation comedy "Absolutely Fabulous", to be executive produced by Mitch Hurwitz, Eric Tannenbaum and Kim Tannenbaum for Sony Pictures TV, Tantamount and BBC Worldwide America.

Christine "Saturday Night Live" Zander will write the script and executive produce with the BBC's Ian Moffet and Saunders.

The update will be be set in Los Angeles, focusing on the close friendship of two foul-mouthed, drunken, stoned out, over-the-hill party girls, "...desperate to stay hip and youthful..." under the disdainful watch of straight teenager 'Saffy'.

The original series starring Saunders and actress Joanna Lumley, was a ratings/critical hit in Britain, 1992-95, subsequently broadcast in North America over Comedy Central. A two-part finale aired in 1996, with new segments taped in 2001 and 2003...
