Irish filmmaker Jim "My Left Foot" Sheridan will direct an adaptation of the novel "I, Claudius," previously the basis for the 1976 BBC miniseries, starring actor Derek Jacobi as the Roman emperor.Author Robert Graves' 1934 story recounts plots surrounding 'Claudius', who ruled from 41-54 A.D.
The book was also adapted into a 1937 feature directed by Josef von Sternberg, starring actor Charles Laughton.Sheridan will write the screenplay of the new version with his collaborator Nye Heron.
