Rozema Directing "American Girl"

In Toronto, Canadian director Patricia "Mansfield Park" Rozema continues shooting the $13 million budgeted HBO Films/Picturehouse feature adaptation of the "American Girl" novels, titled "Kitt Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery".

Starting May 31 and filming throughout July, the movie stars Abigail "Little Miss Sunshine" Breslin as a Depression-era child.

Also starring are Joan Cusack, Chris O'Donnell, Julia Ormond, Wallace Shawn and Stanley Tucci.

Screenplay is by Ann "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" Peacock.

The film is coproduced by Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas of HBO Films, Ellen L. Brothers of American Girls and Lisa Gillan of Red Om Films.

Actress Julia Roberts is executive producer.
