According to the Sci Fi Channel, author L. Frank Baum's "The Wizard Of Oz" will be updated as "Tin Man", a $19 million, six-hour TV mini-series, produced by Robert "Legend of Earthsea" Halmi and RHI Entertainment.
Writers are Steven Long Mitchell and Craig Van Sickle.
Production is slated to begin in Vancouver early 2007 for a proposed Sci Fi air date December 2007.
Sci Fi said "Tin Man" will be 'psychedelic, twisted and bizarre', with 'Dorothy' aka 'DG' (Dorothy Gale), plunging into the 'Outer Zone', the 'Cowardly Lion' re-imagined as a wolverine-like creature, the 'Wicked Witch of the West' now sorceress 'Azkadellia' and the 'Wizard' referred to as 'Mystic Man'.
RHI and Sci Fi have a deal to produce 10 original movies together in 2007.
