Goldsman Going With DC's "Doom Patrol"

Warner Bros. Pictures have signed Akiva Goldsman's Weed Road Pictures to produce a big screen adaptation of DC Comics "Doom Patrol".

Screenplay is by Adam Turner.

Debuting in their own DC comics series in 1963, "Doom Patrol" focused on the exploits of a band of super-powered social misfits ostracized by the world, while guided by their wheelchair-bound mentor, 'Chief'.

Characters included 'Elasti-Girl', 'Negative Man' and 'Robotman'.

Created by Bob Haney, Arnold Drake and Bruno Premiani, the title ceased publishing in 1968, but was revived in numerous new series, morphing into a darker, edgier vision.

"These are some of the most original, offbeat comicbook characters we have ever come across," said Goldsman.

"Adam Turner's unique sensibility makes him a perfect fit for the material."
