Thornton Plunges into "Peace Like a River"

Actor Billy Bob Thornton will star in "Peace Like a River", the film adaptation of the best-selling novel by author Leif Enger.

The screenplay, by Kathy McWorter, set in the North Dakota Badlands of the early 1960s, is narrated by 11-year old 'Reuben Land', whose father 'Jeremiah' is a school janitor who can perform miracles.

Reuben recounts his family's quest to find their fugitive older brother 'Davy', who breaks out of jail and goes on the run after killing two teens that assaulted his girlfriend, kidnapped his little sister 'Swede' and invaded the family home.

Jeremiah, Reuben and Swede set off to find Davy, before a determined federal agent can bring him in.

Producers are currently scouting locations in Calgary, Alberta, targeting a fall production start.
