Stop-motion animation pioneer, producer/director Ray "Jason And the Argonauts" Harryhausen, has been tapped by Mindfire Entertainment to develop a series of fresh features, TV movies, video games and merchandising under the new Ray Harryhausen Presents banner.
Mindfire reportedly has several scripts on the go, including a Greek mythology project and another with an alien invasion theme.
Production on the first film will start fall 2006.
Mindfire's Mark Altman plans to release one feature budgeted in the $15 million range and three TV projects in the $4 million range every year.
Harryhausen will supervise all CGI visual effects.
"These stories are universal," the 85-year old Harryhausen said.
"I could not be more thrilled than to revisit some of my favorite worlds -- past, present and future -- in these new films".
