Emma Corrin: “Pride and Prejudice”

“Pride and Prejudice” is a new 6-part, BBC television miniseries, adapting the 1813 novel by author Jane Austen, directed by Euros Lyn, starring Corrin, Jack Lowden, Olivia Colman and Rufus Sewell, streaming December 3, 2026 on Netflix:

“…’Mrs. Bennet’ is desperate to marry off her daughters, Jane, Elizabeth, Mary, Kitty, and Lydia, because their estate is entailed to a male heir and the women will lose their home if ‘Mr. Bennet dies’.

“Wealthy, friendly ‘Mr. Bingley’ rents the nearby estate of ‘Netherfield Park’ and falls in love with the gentle eldest sister, Jane. Bingley is accompanied by his proud, reserved friend, ‘Mr. Darcy’, who snubs Elizabeth at a local dance.

“Darcy convinces Bingley that Jane does not share his deep affection, separating the couple and breaking Jane’s heart. Meanwhile, Elizabeth is charmed by the deceitful soldier ‘Mr. Wickham’, who lies and claims Darcy cheated him out of his inheritance.

“Pompous clergyman ‘Mr. Collins’ proposes to Elizabeth, and she refuses. He marries her friend, ‘Charlotte Lucas’, instead.

“When Darcy unexpectedly proposes to Elizabeth while insulting her family's social lower standing, she angrily rejects him.

“Darcy later gives Elizabeth a letter explaining his actions: he separated Bingley because Jane seemed indifferent, and Wickham actually squandered his own inheritance and tried to elope with Darcy’s young sister, Georgiana. Elizabeth then slowly realizes she misjudged Darcy…”
