‘Jay Garrick’ is “The Flash”

A live-action version of DC Comics’ ‘Golden Age’ superhero ‘Jay Garrick’, aka ‘The Flash’ (Andy Ridings), appeared in the 9th episode of the HBO Max comedy TV series “Stuart Fails To Save The Universe”:

The character debuted in “Flash Comics” #1, November 20, 1939, created by writer Gardner Fox and illustrator Harry Lampert. 

 In the original ‘Golden Age’ comics, ‘Jay Garrick’ gained his speed-enhancing abilities by inhaling hard water vapor during a lab experiment. This accident granted him superhuman speed and agility, allowing him to become the Flash and fight crime.
