The newest work from Kyoto Animation, "Sparks of Tomorrow" begins streaming worldwide July 5, 2026 on Netflix:
“…in the past, two youths dreamed of an ‘Age of Electricity’.
“‘Kihachi Sakamoto’ writes down the electrical inventions he imagines in the ‘20th Century Electrical Catalog’.
“He and his admired older brother ‘Seiroku’ vow to work together to achieve the future they envision.
“But one day, Seiroku goes off to war, bringing the Catalog with him, and never comes back.
Some time later, Kihachi encounters a girl from a brewery named ‘Inako Momokawa’ and stumbles upon the lost Catalog.
“But ‘Yosuke Mizoe’, heir to a major steam engine firm who is engaged to Inako for political reasons, is also in pursuit of the book. Kihachi and Inako oppose him and take on the challenge.
