RIP Erich von Däniken

Erich von Däniken, the acclaimed Swiss author of several books about extraterrestrial influences on early human culture, including the 1968 best-seller “Chariots of the Gods?” has died:

Along with scholar Zecharia Sitchin, the general claim of Däniken over several published books, starting with “Chariots of the Gods?”, is that extraterrestrials or ‘ancient astronauts’  visited Earth and influenced early human culture. 

Däniken wrote that earthly structures including the Egyptian pyramids, ‘Stonehenge’, and the massive sprawling cities of the ancient ‘Inca’ and ‘Maya’…

…were products of a much higher technological knowledge to have existed at the times they were manufactured. 

He also describes ancient artwork and sculpture throughout the world as containing depictions of astronauts, air and space vehicles, extraterrestrials, and complex technology. 

Däniken explained the origins of religions as reactions to contact with alien races, also offering interpretations of sections of the ‘Old Testament’ of the ‘Bible’, including deleted pssssges from the prophet ‘Ezekiel’.

There is still no definitive scientific explanation of the discovery around the world of ancient elongated and deformed skulls, with unexplained ‘DNA’, missing a ‘sagittal suture’ connective tissue between the two parietal bones of the skull, common in every human being.

To think that ancient massive structures around the world, with intricately cut rock slabs, weighing hundreds of tons, were moved around by cavemen with chisels,  remain as unsolved mysteries of the past.
