Paramount Pictures has greenlit a feature film, based on the “Call of Duty” video game franchise, that Steven Spielberg always wanted to direct, but was rebuffed over a deal-breaking ‘final cut’ stipulation:
"...in ‘Call of Duty WWII’, one of many games in the franchise, ‘Private Red Daniels', a young recruit in the 'US First Infantry Division' experiences combat for the first time on 'D-Day'...
"...during one of the largest amphibious assaults in history.
"After surviving the beaches of 'Normandy', Red and his squad will fight their way across Europe, engaging the enemy in iconic battle locations...
"...including the 'Hürtgen Forest' and the 'Battle of the Bulge', as they make their way into Germany and confront supernatural horrors..."
