Currently in post-production, "Predator: Prey", a prequel to the "Predator" movie franchise, is directed by Dan Trachtenberg ("10 Cloverfield Lane") and produced by Jhane Myers for 20th Century Studios, starring Amber Midthunder, streaming Summer 2022 on Hulu:
"...set in the world of the 'Comanche Nation' 300 years ago, the new action-thriller follows 'Naru' (Midthunder), a skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator..."
The "Predator" movie franchise began in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Five more titles in the franchise have been released since then, most recently "The Predator" (2018) directed by Shane Black.
'Yautja', aka 'Hish-Qu-Ten' is an extraterrestrial species characterized by its trophy hunting of other species for sport. First introduced in the film of the same name as its main antagonist, the creatures returned in the sequels "Predator 2' (1990), "Predators" (2010), "The Predator" (2018), as well as the crossover films "Alien vs. Predator" (2004) and "Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem" (2007).
Created by brothers Jim and John Thomas, who recently settled copyright claims with The Walt Disney Company, the 'Predators' are depicted as large, sapient and sentient humanoid creatures who possess advanced technology, including active camouflage, directed-energy weapons and interstellar travel.
