Warners have stepped up development of their standalone "Batgirl" movie, to be scripted by Christina Hodson who wrote the upcoming "Transformers" spin-off "Bumblebee" as well as a "Birds Of Prey" screenplay:
'Batgirl' aka 'Betty Kane' (named after 'Batman' creator Bob Kane) debuted in DC Comics (1961) from illustrator Bill Finger and writer Sheldon Moldoff as 'Bat-Girl'...
...then replaced by 'Barbara Gordon' in 1967, the daughter of 'Gotham City' police commissioner 'James Gordon'...
...in "Detective Comics" #359, titled "The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!" (1967) by writer Gardner Fox and illustrator Carmine Infantino.
