"Batgirl" and 'Nightwing'

DC COMICS' "Batgirl" #15, now available, is written by Hope Larson and illustrated by Chris Wildgoose, with covers by Dan Mora and Joshua Middleton:

"...in 'Summer of Lies' part two, just as 'Batgirl' and 'Nightwing' discover which villain from their past has returned, they realize something worse...it was all a trap!

"When everything they thought they knew comes crashing down, will they be able to confront their true feelings for each other?..."

in other Batgirl news, "Avengers" director Joss Whedon will develop, produce and direct a stand-alone "Batgirl" movie for Warners, adapting DC Comics' "New 52" version of the character:

The first 'Bat-Girl' aka 'Betty Kane' (named after 'Batman' creator Bob Kane) debuted in DC Comics (1961) created by writer Sheldon Moldoff  and illustrator Bill Finger.

...then replaced by 'Barbara Gordon' in 1967, as the daughter of 'Gotham City' police commissioner 'James Gordon.'..

...in "Detective Comics" #359, titled "The Million Dollar Debut of Batgirl!" (1967) by writer Gardner Fox and illustrator Carmine Infantino.

"...in the 'New 52', 'Barbara Gordon', previously wounded in action as a costumed vigilante, regains her mobility after undergoing experimental surgery at a South African clinic.

"Although she resumes her work as 'Batgirl' one year after her recovery, she continues to suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder...

"...causing her to hesitate in battle when exposed to gunfire that could result in receiving new spinal damage.

"The character also exhibits survivor guilt due to the fact she has made a full recovery from her paralysis while others have not..."
