"Designated Survivor" Gets Full-Season Pickup

According to TorontoFilm.Net, ABC has given a full-season pickup to the Toronto-lensed political drama "Designated Survivor", starring Kiefer Sutherland:

"...on the night of the 'State of the Union' address, an explosion claims the lives of the 'President' and all the members of the 'Cabinet' except for 'Tom Kirkman' (Sutherland), the 'U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development', who has been named the'designated survivor'. Kirkman is immediately sworn in as President unaware that the attack is just the beginning of what is to come..."

"We’re very proud of the creative excellence in front of and behind the camera," said ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey about "Designated Survivor", "and thrilled to be giving our audience more episodes.

From the Mark Gordon Co. and ABC Studios, "Designated Survivor" received a back-nine order, with a premiere averaging 15.3 million viewers.

Created by David Guggenheim, Sutherland, Simon Kinberg, Mark Gordon, Jon Harmon Feldman, Nick Pepper, Suzan Bymel and Aditya Sood are executive producers.
