Take another look @ Marvel Studios' favorite 'Black Widow' actress Scarlett Johansson, crowned "The Sexiest Woman Alive" in "Esquire" magazine.
"I gotta hustle," said Johansson about her acting career.
"Pretty soon the roles you’re offered all become mothers.
'Then they just sort of stop. I have to hedge against that with work — theater, producing... this thing with 'Esquire'..."
March 2009, Johansson first signed on to play Marvel Comics' Russian spy 'Natasha Romanoff' aka the 'Black Widow' in the feature "Iron Man 2", as an undercover spy for 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' posing as an assistant to 'Tony Stark' (Robert Downey Jr.) aka 'Iron Man'.
She was cast only after a scheduling conflict forced actress Emily Blunt to drop out of the part.
Johansson then reprised the role in director Joss Whedon's "The Avengers" (2012) confirming that Marvel was "really behind" the character.
Johansson again portrayed Black Widow in the 2014 feature "Captain America: The Winter Soldier".
In "The Avengers" sequel "The Avengers: Age Of Ultron", Johansson played the character on film for a fourth time, followed by her current appearance in "Captain America: Civil War".
"People were surprised that I wanted to play a comic book heroine," said Johansson about 'Black Widow'.
"But I loved 'Iron Man' and I met with Marvel to see what was possible. I had done my research, and the 'Black Widow' character resonated with me.
"She is dark and has faced death so many times that she has a deep perspective on the value of life.
"...you learn more about the sadness in her past."
"Black Widow is a superhero, but she’s also human. She’s small, but she’s strong. It’s hard not to admire her."
"She packs a big punch.
"We all try to fight the forces of evil. Like Black Widow, you have to keep trying. The challenge is always there..."
