Colin Firth As 'John Steed" ?

While actor Colin Firth wows audiences as a British secret agent in "Kingsman: The Secret Service", there is talk of him taking on the role of  British agent 'John Steed' in the developing feature "Steed and Mrs. Peel", rebooting the "Avengers" 1960's Brit spy TV series, that has spun-off into comic books, novels and radio dramas:

The original TV series, airing from 1961 to 1969, partnered Steed, a secret agent working for an unnamed branch of British intelligence, with a succession of assistants including 'Cathy Gale', 'Emma Peel' and 'Tara King', with later episodes incorporating elements of science fiction, fantasy, parody and more 'British eccentricity'.

A scion of a noble family, Steed attended 'Eton' where he once got into a fight with the school bully 'James Bond', and was eventually expelled. He was a distinguished veteran of World War II, training with the 'Coldstream Guards', then transferring to the 'Intelligence Corps'. He spent the early part of his war service posted at 'RAF Camp 472 Hamelin', which was a jumping-off point for British spies on the continent. He received the 'Military Cross' for single-handedly taking out a German machine-gun post. Before leaving the British Army to join 'The Ministry', Steed achieved the rank of Major.

One of Steed's trademarks was his impeccable dress, often consisting of a three-piece suit with metal-plated bowler hat and gadget-laden umbrellam with its distinctive 'whangee' handle, known for containing a sword...

Although he is witty and highly sagacious, Steed is a suave and ruthless spy.
