Marvel's "Gambit"

Sneak Peek the comic book origins of Marvel Comics' mutant superhero 'Gambit', on the news that a "Gambit" solo movie starring actor Channing Tatum has been given a greenlight:

Created by writer Chris Claremont and illustrator Jim Lee, the character debuted in Marvel's "Uncanny X-Men Annual" #14 (1990), followed by "Uncanny X-Men" #266 (August 1990).

A mutant, Gambit can mentally create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy. He is also incredibly skilled in card-throwing, hand-to-hand combat and the use of a bō.

Originally a professional thief, Gambit has shown a more vulnerable side of himself with the mutant 'Rogue'. Proud of his Louisiana heritage, he speaks in a thick Cajun accent.

Though he did not appear in the first three "X-Men" films, Gambit appeared on screen in the 2009 feature "X-Men Origins: Wolverine", portrayed by Taylor Kitsch.

As well as the solo "Gambit" feature, Tatum will also portray the character in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse" 3D feature.
