Channing Tatum Is Marvel's "Gambit"

According to reports, actor Channing Tatum will star as Marvel's "X-Men" mutant character 'Gambit' in his own spin-off feature, written by Josh Zetumer ("RoboCop"), produced by Tatum and Free Association partner Reid Carolin, The Donners Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner and Genre Films’ Simon Kinberg:

The mutant 'Gambit', originally a thief, was created for Marvel Comics by writer Chris Claremont and illustrator Jim Lee, debuting in Marvel's "Uncanny X-Men Annual" #14 (1990), followed by "Uncanny X-Men" #266 (August 1990).

The character can mentally create, control and manipulate pure kinetic energy to his every whim and desire.

He is also incredibly knowledgeable and skilled in card-throwing, hand-to-hand combat and the use of a bō. He is fiercely proud of his Louisiana heritage, and speaks in a very thick Cajun accent.

Gambit did not appear in the first three "X-Men films", but appeared on screen in the 2009 film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".
