Development continues on Universal's live-action Dark Horse comic book adaptation "Emily the Strange".
Screenplay is by Kealan O’Rourke for Dark Horse founder and film producer Mike Richardson.
The character first appeared on a sticker distributed at concerts, record stores and skate shops to promote Cosmic Debris, a clothing line founded by artist and skateboarder Rob Reger, racecar driver Matt Reed and Nathan Carrico, who designed Emily in 1991 for Santa Cruz Skateboards in Santa Cruz, California.

Her best friends are her cats, and they seem to be the only beings she truly trusts. She carries around a slingshot and possibly other minor weaponry within her dress pockets. She normally wears a black dress that she describes to have abnormally large pockets. She is nocturnal, and homeschools herself. She is gifted in the world of science, having created an amnesia machine, duplicated herself and created a time machine as well..."
