Two Studios Running With 'Quicksilver'

Marvel Comics' superhero character 'Quicksilver', aka 'Pietro Maximoff', will appear in director Bryan Singer's 20th Century Fox' 2014 release "X-Men: Days of Future Past", played by actor Evan Peters, as well as in director Joss Whedon's Marvel Studios' 2014 Disney release "Avengers: Age Of Ultron", played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.

So what's so special about the 'Quicksilver' character, superseded by DC Comics' "Flash" more than 70 years ago, as "...the shining example of a villain turned good..."  ?

Quicksilver debuted in Marvel Comics' "X-Men" #4 (March 1964), created by writer Stan Lee and co-plotter/illustrator Jack Kirby as the son of mutant 'Magneto' and twin brother of the 'Scarlet Witch', appearing as an antagonist to the 'X-Men', before becoming a member of the 'Avengers'.

He is a mutant capable of moving and thinking at superhuman speeds. Originally capable of running at the speed of sound, exposure to 'Isotope E' from the 'High Evolutionary', made it possible for the character to run up to 'Mach 10' and resist the effects of friction, reduced oxygen and kinetic impact.

The character's speed allows him to perform feats such as create cyclone-strength winds; run up walls and cross bodies of water.

One of the reasons for his abrasive and impatient personality is that  the rest of the world is moving in slow motion and he is constantly waiting for it to catch up.

Quicksilver gained new powers courtesy of the 'Terrigen Mist' from 'The Inhumans', enabling him to displace out of mainstream time and space, to 'jump' into the future.

Quicksilver has appeared in Marvel-licensed products including animated films; arcade and video games, television series, action figures and trading cards.
