"Star Wars: Episode VII" Updates

According to reports, Brit actor Chiwetel Ejiofor ("12 Years A Slave") is being considered, among other noted performers, for director J.J. Abrams' prepping feature, "Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens".

Before Ejiofor riveted audiences with his performance as 'Solomon Northup' in "12 Years A Slave", he impressed genre film fans as 'The Operative' in writer/director Joss Whedon's 2005 feature "Serenity".

As "Episode VII" continues pre-production, Lawrence Kasdan and director J.J. Abrams have assumed screenwriting duties for the film. Kasdan, who has been serving as a consultant on the film, wrote the screenplay for "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and co-wrote "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi."

Location scouting, production design, casting, and costume design are already underway on "Episode VII."

DP is Dan Mindel, production designers are Rick Carter and Darren Gilford, costume designer is Michael Kaplan, SPFX supervisor is Chris Corbould, sound designer is Ben Burtt and VFX supervisor is Roger Guyett.

Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing.

Tommy Harper  and Jason McGatlin  are executive producers.

John Williams is also returning to score "Star Wars: Episode VII".

Shooting is scheduled to begin Spring 2014 at Pinewood Studios for a 2015 release.
