"Duck Dynasty" Sets A TV Record

Our favorite reality TV series, A&E's "Duck Dynasty", a hilarious cross between "Trailer Park Boys", "Andy Of Mayberry" and "The Beverly Hillbillies", peopled by good-natured, long-haired 'red necks', who kill beavers and eat squirrels, drew a 'staggering' Season Four premiere audience August 14, 2013, totaling 11.8 million viewers, ranking as the number one non-fiction TV series telecast in cable history.

The episode also set a cable record for a reality series telecast among adults 25-54 with 6.3 million viewers in the demo and became the No.1 series telecast in A&E history among adults 18-49 and 18-34 with 6.3 million and 3.0 million viewers.

Previous A&E records in total viewers and all key demos were held by the "Duck Dynasty" third season finale, which averaged 9.6 million total viewers, 5.6 million adults 25-54, 5.5 million adults 18-49 and 2.6 million adults 18-34.

The college-educated Louisiana-based 'Robertson' family, now earning more than $200,000 per episode, hit the big time when prodigal son 'Willie' ran with his father Phil's patented design for a unique 'duck call' that actually worked.

Willie transformed the family's fledgling business and previous 'hunting' VHS videos, into a multi-million dollar operation, staffed by his brothers, Uncle and assorted family friends.

Willie has now set his 'Oliver Hardy/Moe Howard' persona towards acting, along with his oddball Uncle Si Robertson, who will both appear in Tim Allen's new comedy series, "Last Man Standing".

Father Phil, the guy who started it all, also has a New York Times best-seller, titled "Happy, Happy, Happy: My Life and Legacy as the Duck Commander".

Willie's daughter Sadie is also in demand as a runway model and fashion designer.
