Studios Possessed By "Poltergeist"



Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures (MGM) will partner with Fox 2000 Pictures to co-finance/distribute a reboot of Tobe Hooper's "Poltergeist", according to MGM Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Gary Barber and Twentieth Century Fox Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Jim Gianopulos.


Gil Kenan ("Monster House") will direct from a screenplay by Pulitzer Prize-winning writer David Lindsay-Abaire, for producers Sam Raimi ("Evil Dead") and Rob Tapert ("The Posession") via their Ghost House Pictures, along with Roy Lee ("The Strangers"). Nathan Kahane ("The Grudge") will executive produce:


"...in a revisionist take on the classic horror film, a family struggling to make ends meet relocates to an outdated suburban home.


"There they are confronted by an angry spirit who kidnaps their youngest daughter and challenges them to band together to rescue her from the clutches of evil..."


"Poltergeist" will start production Fall 2013.
