DC Comics "World's Finest" characters 'Batman' and 'Superman' will star in the upcoming "Lego Motion Picture" directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, starring Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, and Channing Tatum, on track for a February 7, 2014 release:
"...'Emmet', an ordinary 'Lego' figure, is mistaken as being the one who can save the universe. With the aid of an old mystic, a tough female and 'Batman', Emmet will fight to defeat an evil tyrant bent on destroying the universe by gluing it together..."
Main cast includes Chris Patt as 'Emmet', a law-abiding, 'LEGO' minifigure, mistaken for the most extraordinary 'Master Builder' in the universe, Will Arnett as 'LEGO Batman', Tatum as 'LEGO Superman', Elizabeth Banks as 'Lucy', Freeman as 'Vitruvius' the mystic, Will Ferell as villain 'President Business', Neeson as evil henchman 'Bad Cop' and Nick Offerman as 'Metalbeard' the pirate.
In development since 2008, the film is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and Australia's Animal Logic ("Happy Feet").
With tax credits from the Australian government and New South Wales, the action adventure is being produced entirely in Australia.
LEGO and Warner Bros. previously produced LEGO toys and videogames based on Warner Bros. properties "Batman" and "Harry Potter".
LEGO acquired total access to all of DC Entertainment's comic book characters and stories, launching 'DC Universe' figures and playsets, January 2012.
