Sneak Peek more new key art from Season 4 of CW's "The Vampire Diaries.
The dramatic TV series was developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, based on "The Vampire Diaries" book series by author L. J. Smith.
The series is set in 'Mystic Falls', Virginia, a small town haunted by 'supernatural beings'. The main focus is the love triangle between protagonist 'Elena Gilbert' (Nina Dobrev) and vampire-brothers 'Stefan Salvatore' (Paul Wesley) and 'Damon Salvatore' (Ian Somerhalder) :
"...teenage 'Elena' falls deeply in love with young-looking, 162-year-old vampire 'Stefan Salvatore'.
"Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated as Stefan's vicious and malevolent older brother 'Damon Salvatore' returns with a plan to wreak havoc on the town and a revenge against his younger brother.
"Both brothers begin to show affection towards Elena, because she is a descendant of 'Katherine', who returns with plans against the trio.
"Some of the founding families of Mystic Falls include the 'Salvatores', the 'Gilberts', the 'Fells', the 'Forbes' and the 'Lockwoods', who guard the town from vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts and 'hybrids'..."
