"Star Wars" Spin-Off Films Confirmed

Walt Disney Pictures have officially confirmed plans to develop stand-alone feature films in the "Star Wars" universe, with reports circulating on the first two projects.

The two films will focus on 'Boba Fett' and a young 'Han Solo'.

The Solo film will reportedly take place in the time between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy. The adventures of Han Solo pre-"A New Hope" was the focus of the 1979 "Star Wars' novel,  "Han Solo At World's End".

"Star Wars" creator George Lucas described Solo as "...a loner who realizes the importance of being part of a group and helping for  the common good..."

The Boba Fett film would be set between "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back", following the bounty hunter on an intergalactic adventure.

In "Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones" it was revealed that Boba Fett was a child clone of bounty hunter 'Jango Fett', who raised him as a son. Boba is created for Jango by the cloners of the 'Planet Kamino', who also created the 'Clone Army' that the republic will eventually enlist.

Fett's air of danger and mystery have created a cult following for the character, who has been merchandised across multiple media.
