"Star Trek" Director Launching "Star Wars: Episode VII"

Although his 2 TV series "Fringe" and "Alcatraz" were recently cancelled, director JJ Abrams remains strong in features, having rebooted the space crew of the 'Enterprise' in "Star Trek" and now  preparing to kick-start a fresh trilogy of Lucasfilm 3D "Star Wars" movies for the Walt Disney Company, starting with "Star Wars: Episode VII" :

"It's very exciting to have JJ aboard leading the charge as we set off to make a new 'Star Wars' movie," said Kathleen Kennedy for Lucasfilm.

"Beyond having such great instincts as a filmmaker, he has an intuitive understanding of this franchise. He understands the essence of the 'Star Wars' experience and will bring that talent to create an unforgettable motion picture."

"To be a part of the next chapter of the 'Star Wars' saga, to collaborate with Kathy Kennedy and this remarkable group of people, is an absolute honor," said Abrams.
