"Star Wars: Episode VII"- Director Updates


In a recent interview between Kathleen Kennedy, president of Disney-owned LucasFilm, and "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, they talked specifically about their search for a director for the developing 3D feature "Star Wars: Episode VII".

Kennedy said she was looking at a number of candidates among directors she has worked with in the past, including Joe Johnston who directed the Kennedy-produced "Jurassic Park III".


Johnston previously directed "The Rocketeer" for Disney, as well as credited with VFX for the original "Star Wars" trilogy.



Johnston directed the $140 million, PG-13, 2011 Disney release of Marvel's "Captain America: The First Avenger. The film earned a Domestic (North American) box office gross of $176,654,505 and a Foreign (International) gross of $191,953,858, for a Worldwide total of $368,608,363 on a production budget of $140 million.
